Device-to-Device smartphone network security

Device-to-Device smartphone network security.

Description

WiFi Direct (like Bluetooth) gives smartphones the capability to connect directly to each other, i.e. without going through the Internet or the cellular network. Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is expected to play a major role in 5G networks. This project will implement appropriate cryptographic and other mechanisms that enable secure and private delivery of messages to the correct destination(s) in a network of WiFi-Direct-connected smartphones. Two Android smartphones are to be connected over WiFi-Direct. When connected, they are able to transfer files between them and send encrypted messages to each other. ## Topics to be written on: – Device and service discovery – Group formation – Group owner selection – Security/AES encryption: used when sending messages over WiFi Direct – File transfer: transferring of files when devices are connected
