The research concentrates on fireground radio communications in Ireland. The focus of the research will be on the types of fireground radio communications used by local authority Fire Service in Ireland, radio coverage at incidents, training, best practice in communicating at incidents and learning outcomes. This chapter reviews the current fire-ground radio communication systems in use, the regulations and guidance nationally and internationally, literature in relation to fireground radio communication failures and types of tests used to measure coverage within buildings
