THE COMEDIAN FOR THIS ESSAY IS Katt Williams***** For the purpose of researching his/her self-selected comedians even further, each student will use this essay to discuss a recent controversy within the context of comedy. Since the role of comedy, at times, is to depict recent events in a humorous or challenging light, students have a few options with this essay. The first option is to craft an essay about how one’s specific genre of comedy has depicted a recent controversial event. Another option is to write about the controversy regarding a specific piece of comedy. To provide an example of the latter, a student with the topic of sketch comedy might discuss the controversy behind Alex Borstein, a white comedian, stereotypically playing the Asian role of Ms. Swan on MadTv during a time in America when immigration is highly regulated.
