The Group Activities of Units 2, 3 and 5 encompass a simulation on operations management that is performed in groups of three students. During the three activities, the set of structural, infrastructural and competitive decisions that are explored along the units 2, 3 and 5 are analysed and taken for a selected product or service. During this collaboration activity it is asked to continue working with same group formed in the unit 2. Following the market estimation, the customer drivers identified, as well as the structural & infrastructural decisions made for the product or service chosen, the group should now consider and a provide a detailed answer and justification to each of the following questions: What lean operations considerations (waste minimization, people involvement, continuous improvement, push vs. pull systems, set up reduction and total productive maintenance) do you consider relevant for the product or service chosen? What agile operations factors (waste minimization, people involvement, continuous improvement, push vs. pull systems, set up reduction and total productive maintenance) do you consider relevant for the product or service chosen? What Enterprise Resource Planning solutions will you employ you consider relevant for the product or service chosen? It is recommended to review chapters 4, 5, 6 & 8 of the book Operations Strategy and the chapters 1 & 2 of the book A Guide to ERP: Benefits, Implementation and Trends.
