Women and reform.
In her book, Officier, Nurse, Woman, Kara Dixon Vuic examines the changing gender dynamics of the 1960s through the experiences of nurses in the masculine world of the mobilized U.S. military during the Vietnam War. How did women’s presence in the Army Nurse Corps both uphold and challenge gender roles? How did male nurses affect the military’s treatment of nurses and understanding of gender roles? In the post-war years, how did the portrayal of women in the Vietnam War, especially in the Army Nurse Corps, reflect gender changes in the larger society? Your essay should be 3-5 pages, double-spaced, typed, with standard margins and page numbers. It should include an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each point you make should be backed up with evidence from the readings. You must properly cite your evidence by using endnotes or footnotes.
